CHRIS NAY, HEAD COACH
Chris’s journey in coaching began at just 14 years old when he embarked on a volunteer role at Blackpool FC ‘Football in the Community’. From those early days, his passion for nurturing talent and fostering a love for sport has remained unwavering.
Over two decades of dedication have seen Chris evolve from a volunteer into a seasoned coach, making significant contributions to various organizations in the sporting world and in the local area. His time at Fylde Coast YMCA saw him ascend from a sports coach to a sports development officer, where he was heavily focused on engaging youngsters in the community through sports by delivering sporting sessions and working in local primary schools.
A pivotal moment in Chris’s career came when he took on the role of ‘Inclusion Officer’ at AFC Fylde, highlighting his commitment to ensuring sports are accessible to all. His return to Blackpool FC Community Trust in 2014 as an Early Years sports coach further shows his dedication to grassroots development.
After moving back to the YMCA as a ‘head sports coach’ in 2017, Chris’s tireless efforts and outstanding leadership were starting to be recognized. In 2018, he received the prestigious Coach of the Year award by the Fylde Coast Council, a testament to his impact on the local sporting scene.
Chris also set up CN Sports, which is thriving in the world of voluntary grassroots football clubs. He remains chairman of the club and dedicates his spare time to volunteering and coaching some of the older teams.
Chris then decided to put his efforts into a new and personal venture and this is when CN Active was formed – a highly successful business offering football sessions, sports camps and birthday parties to primary school children across the Fylde coast. Chris’s passion and influence extends beyond the pitch. His involvement in the local community, combined with his passion for sports, makes him not only a coach but a beacon of inspiration for the children he coaches.

NATHAN, SPORTS COACH
Nathan epitomizes the journey from passion to profession in the world of sports coaching. With a lifelong love for athletics and a background deeply rooted in football, Nathan’s journey into coaching has been a natural progression fuelled by his dedication.
Nathan is a full time apprentice, soon to be fully qualified. He spends his spare time further nurturing his love of sports through football refereeing. Starting his sporting journey on the fields of St. Annes as a football player, Nathan’s connection to the game flourished over the years. His involvement with CN Active stems from his early interactions with Chris when he used to attend the sessions as a youngster.
Transitioning from player to coach, Nathan’s evolution has been amazing. His path from volunteering to becoming an apprentice under Chris speaks volumes about his commitment and drive. As he became more familiar with coaching, Nathan’s leadership abilities shone through, gradually enabling him to take a lead role at the CN Active sports camps and sessions.
Nathan has blossomed into an inspiring coach and his journey just goes to show the transformative power of sports, where participation evolves into coaching, and passion transforms into profession.
After a lot of hard work, Nathan is now recognised as a Level 2 sports coach which is remarkable at such a young age. He recently coached a local girls’ football team who ended up triumphant at Wembley Stadium; a testament to his talent and determination and an experience which will undoubtedly stay with him forever.
Nathan is becoming a recognisable face at CN Active and is very well known and liked by both parents and children. It is evident that he is driven by the personal satisfaction he gets from watching the children flourish and improve, and he takes great pride in contributing towards this growth. He is committed to becoming the best coach he can be and will undoubtedly inspire others to follow in his footsteps.
After 20 years of coaching sport on the Fylde Coast, Chris founded the grassroots football club CN Sports in 2019. CN Sports has a number of boys and girls teams competing in the local football and Futsal leagues.
In 2021, CN Sports was divided into CN Sports and CN Active. CN Active provides football coaching, holiday clubs and sports parties to children in Blackpool, St Annes, Lytham St Annes and the Fylde Coast and allows children to develop skills through sport with an emphasis on fun while learning. As well as the physical and mental health benefits that sport brings, team-based activities also help to develop essential communication and social skills, which benefit children as they grow and develop into adults.

Children’s Football Parties
CN Active football and sports parties last for 60/70 minutes with a choice of a football or dodgeball party. You’ll also get a presentation, with a trophy for the birthday boy/girl and 20 minutes for your own food and cake.
